Disney California Adventure has quietly become one of the best parks in the country for food. There is a genuine range here, from a fine dining experience that rivals anything on Disney property to some of the most creative quick service concepts around. Whether you are a foodie looking for a special occasion dinner or a parent just trying to keep everyone fed between rides, there is something in this park for you.

A Few Things to Know Before You Eat

Make reservations early. California Adventure has a handful of table service restaurants that accept advance reservations, and they fill up quickly. Carthay Circle Restaurant, in particular, is one of the hardest reservations to land at the entire Disneyland Resort. Book the moment your 60-day window opens at 6 AM PT.

Use mobile ordering. Many of California Adventure’s quick service locations offer mobile ordering through the Disneyland app. It is one of the best tools you have on a busy park day.

California Adventure Dining in Avengers Campus

Avengers Campus is the Marvel-themed land in the back of the park, home to Guardians of the Galaxy and Web Slingers. The dining here leans into the superhero theme in creative and fun ways.

The food itself is genuinely good, and the theming is a delight.

Known for: The Not So Little Chicken Sandwich (a supersized crispy chicken sandwich), Pym-ini (a tiny pressed sandwich), creative themed beverages, some of the most inventive quick service theming in any Disney park

 

Pym Tasting Lab

Buena Vista Street is the park’s grand entrance, designed to evoke 1920s Los Angeles as Walt Disney himself experienced it when he first arrived in the city. The dining here is warm, nostalgic, and well-suited for the start or end of your day.

 

Carthay Circle Lounge

Carthay Circle Restaurant

The finest dining experience in California Adventure, and one of the best restaurants at the entire Disneyland Resort. Carthay Circle Restaurant occupies the second floor of a meticulous recreation of the original 1926 Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles, the legendary movie palace where Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered. The dining room is stunning, the service is impeccable, and the menu features elevated California cuisine.

My husband and I had the chance to eat here on a trip we took together, just the two of us, and it was genuinely one of the best meals we have had at any Disney park. The food was exceptional, and the atmosphere made the whole evening feel like a real occasion. If you are planning any kind of celebratory trip, or simply want one truly memorable meal, this is the place to make it happen.

Known for: Ginger and Soy Glazed Tri Tip, Grilled Chicken Meatloaf, California Asparagus Toast, Pan Roasted Shrimp, outstanding desserts, one of the most beautiful dining rooms at any Disney resort

 

Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe

Cars Land is one of the most meticulously themed lands in any Disney park, and the dining here matches. Every spot is pulled straight from Radiator Springs, and Flo’s V8 Cafe in particular is one of the best quick service experiences in the park.

One of the best quick service meals in California Adventure, set inside a beautifully themed diner styled after Flo’s Famous Pit Stop in Radiator Springs. The menu features hearty American comfort food, the theming is immaculate down to the last detail, and the large indoor seating area makes it a welcome retreat on hot or rainy days.

This is a stop we try to make on every Disneyland trip. The atmosphere inside is so much fun, all neon and retro Americana and Cars characters woven throughout the design. And on a warm California afternoon, being able to duck into a well air-conditioned space with solid food and great theming is genuinely one of life’s simple pleasures.

California Adventure Dining in Grizzly Peak

Grizzly Peak is home to Grizzly River Run and Soarin’ Around the World, and its dining options lean into the California outdoor adventure theme.

This is another one that has earned a permanent spot on our Disneyland trip rotation. The food truly is that good, and it is the kind of quick service meal that actually excites you rather than just fueling you for the next ride. Do not miss it.

Mendocino Terrace

Pixar Pier is a whimsical boardwalk-style land celebrating Pixar stories, and it has some of the most fun and photogenic snack stops in the park alongside the beloved Num Num Cookie.

 

Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats

Home of the famous Jack-Jack Num Num Cookie, a massive warm chocolate chip cookie that has become one of the most sought-after treats at California Adventure. Themed to the Incredibles short where baby Jack-Jack develops a fixation with cookies, this stand delivers on the premise completely.

These cookies are enormous and every bit as good as they look. We always grab one for the family to share because, yes, they are that big. It is one of those treats that genuinely lives up to the hype, and it is hard to walk past without stopping.

Known for: Num Num Cookie (a massive, warm chocolate chip cookie that is very shareable), a Pixar Pier must-do for Incredibles fans and cookie lovers alike

 

Lamplight Lounge

A beloved Pixar-themed gastropub right on the Pixar Pier waterfront, filled with Pixar concept art, animator sketches, and memorabilia. One of the best spots for adults at California Adventure, and perpetually popular.

Known for: Lobster Nachos (a must-order), creative Pixar-inspired craft cocktails, stunning waterfront views of Paradise Bay, Pixar art and memorabilia throughout

 

Lamplight Lounge – Boardwalk Dining

The downstairs table service dining experience within the Lamplight Lounge building, offering reserved seating with a full menu of elevated American comfort food and outdoor boardwalk seating directly over the water. A wonderful option for families or groups who want a proper sit-down meal at Pixar Pier.

Poultry Palace

San Fransokyo Square is the Big Hero 6-inspired area of the park blending San Francisco and Tokyo aesthetics. It opened in 2023 and has quickly become one of the best dining areas in California Adventure.

 

Aunt Cass Cafe

Located right on the waterfront of San Fransokyo Square, Aunt Cass Cafe is themed to Aunt Cass’s Lucky Cat Cafe from Big Hero 6 and is one of the best quick service spots in all of California Adventure. The menu blends American comfort food with Asian-inspired flavors, and the bread bowls — made with authentic Boudin sourdough baked fresh next door — are genuinely exceptional.

Those bread bowls are the reason to stop here. Thick, crusty Boudin sourdough filled with clam chowder or curry beef, eaten on the outdoor waterfront patio with views of Paradise Bay: it is the kind of meal that makes you wonder why you ever settle for mediocre theme park food. It has become one of my favorite spots to eat in all of California Adventure, and I find myself thinking about it between trips.

Known for: Sourdough bread bowls with Boudin sourdough (a must-order), San Fransokyo Clam Chowder, Curry Beef Bowl, California Roll Sandwich, Japanese-style Fluffy Cheesecake, waterfront outdoor seating

California Adventure Dining Events and Special Experiences

California Adventure hosts several special dining experiences that are worth knowing about when planning your trip.

World of Color Dining Package allows guests to book a meal at a participating restaurant and receive preferred viewing for the World of Color nighttime show. Participating locations include Wine Country Trattoria and the Magic Key Terrace. Check the Disneyland website for current offerings and pricing.

World of Color Dessert Party is a separately ticketed evening experience that includes a dessert spread and reserved viewing for World of Color. Reservations are required.

Magic Key Terrace is a dining lounge exclusively for Magic Key passholders, located in the Golden Vine Winery lofts with panoramic views of Avengers Campus, Cars Land, and San Fransokyo Square. Prix-fixe meal packages are available and include World of Color preferred viewing.

Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival takes place annually in late winter and spring, transforming the park with food and beverage marketplaces, live entertainment, and special menus. Typically runs from early March through late April.
