Disneyland Mobile Ordering: How It Works & Where to Use It

Disneyland Mobile Ordering - Pym Test Kitchen at California Adventure | Magic in the Planning

By Alyssa Howard

Disneyland mobile ordering is one of the tools my family uses the most on every single trip. We are avid mobile order users, and honestly, I can’t imagine doing a Disneyland day without it anymore. It saves us so much time, and the best part is that you can do it while you’re standing in line for a ride. By the time we get off the attraction, lunch is basically waiting on us.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through how mobile ordering works in the Disneyland app, how we use it to grab the most in-demand treats without the long lines, my best tips, and a full list of where you can use it at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, and the Disneyland Resort hotels.

What Is Disneyland Mobile Ordering?

Mobile ordering is a free feature in the official Disneyland app that lets you order and pay for food and drinks ahead of time at participating quick service restaurants, snack stands, and lounges. When you get to the restaurant, you skip the ordering line completely and pick up your food at a separate Mobile Order Pick Up window or counter.

It’s available in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, plus a few spots at the Disneyland Resort hotels. You don’t need a hotel stay or any special ticket to use it. All you need is the Disneyland app and a park ticket for the day.

How Mobile Ordering Works in the Disneyland App

Here’s exactly how to place a mobile order, step by step:

  1. Open the Disneyland app, tap the “+” button, and choose “Order Food.” You can also pull up a specific restaurant in the app and start your order from its page.
  2. Pick a participating restaurant. You’ll see a list of every location currently taking mobile orders.
  3. Choose your arrival window. This is the time slot when you plan to be at the restaurant to pick up your food. The app suggests the next available window, and you can also see later time slots throughout the day.
  4. Build your order. Browse the full menu, customize items where it’s allowed, and check the allergy-friendly options if anyone in your group has dietary needs.
  5. Review and pay. You can pay with a stored credit or debit card, Apple Pay, a Disney Gift Card, or a Disney Rewards Redemption Card. If you’re an eligible Magic Key holder or Disney Vacation Club member, your dining discount is applied automatically.
  6. Tap “I’m Here, Prepare My Order” when you arrive. Once you’re actually near the restaurant during your arrival window, tap the button so the kitchen starts making your food. Don’t tap it until you’re close, or your food may be sitting there getting cold.
  7. Wait for your notification and pick up. The app will let you know when your order is ready. Head to the area marked with the Mobile Order Pick Up sign, grab your food, and enjoy!

Why My Family Loves Disneyland Mobile Ordering

We use mobile ordering for pretty much every quick service meal and snack we can at Disneyland. Here’s why it has become such a big part of how we do the parks.

We Order While We Wait in Line

This is our favorite way to use it, and it’s such a simple trick. Standing in a 45-minute queue? That’s the perfect time to look over menus together, let the kids decide what they want without any pressure, and place the order. When we get off the ride, we tap “I’m Here” as we walk over, and our food is usually ready within a few minutes. We aren’t losing any park time to ordering at all.

It also takes the pressure off of deciding at the counter. My girls can take as long as they want to pick, and nobody is standing behind us waiting while we debate.

It’s Our Secret Weapon for In-Demand Items

Whenever there’s a popular treat or a limited-time item that everyone is lining up for, mobile order is the first thing we check. Instead of waiting in a long line and hoping it doesn’t sell out before we get to the front, we can grab an arrival window and walk right up to the pick up window.

The best example from our last trip? The famous chocolate chip cookies from Harbour Galley in New Orleans Square. They went viral online, and the line at that little window can get surprisingly long because of them. We mobile ordered them twice on that trip and skipped the line both times. They really are some of the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had, and mobile ordering made them so much easier to get. If you’re planning to try them, this is the way to do it.

It Saves Real Time Over a Full Park Day

Skipping the ordering line once might only save you 10 or 15 minutes. But when you’re mobile ordering breakfast, lunch, a snack, and dinner, that time adds up fast. On a busy day at Disneyland, that can be the difference between squeezing in one more ride or not.

My Best Tips for Disneyland Mobile Ordering

  • Order early for popular spots. Arrival windows at the most popular restaurants can fill up around lunch and dinner. If you know where you want to eat, place your order before you’re hungry. A good habit is to check the app as soon as you get in a long line.
  • Don’t tap “I’m Here” too early. Wait until you’re actually close to the restaurant. If you tap it from across the park, your food starts cooking before you get there.
  • Use it with your discounts. Disneyland makes this easy. If you’re an eligible Magic Key holder or Disney Vacation Club member, your discount is applied automatically when you check out in the app.
  • Check allergy-friendly menus in the app. Many locations list allergy-friendly options right in the mobile order menu, which makes it much easier to see what’s available ahead of time.
  • Know about the Alien Pizza Planet change. In Tomorrowland, mobile ordering at Alien Pizza Planet is now listed separately in the app as “Alien Pizza Planet Express,” and it only offers whole pizzas and family-style meals. If you want slices, pasta, or a kids’ meal, you’ll need to order in person.
  • Starbucks is not on mobile order. Neither Market House in Disneyland nor Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe in California Adventure currently takes mobile orders through the Disneyland app, so plan on waiting in line for your coffee.
  • Some favorites are still walk-up only. A few of the most beloved snack stops, like Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums on Pixar Pier and Kat Saka’s Kettle in Galaxy’s Edge, aren’t on mobile order. Churro and popcorn carts generally aren’t either.

Where You Can Use Mobile Order at Disneyland

Mobile order locations change from time to time, so always check the Disneyland app for the most current list before your trip. Here’s where you can count on it as of this writing.

Disneyland Park Mobile Order Locations

Red Rose Taverne in Disneyland | Magic in the Planning

Disneyland Park has great mobile order coverage, with most of its quick service restaurants participating. Here they are by land:

  • Adventureland: Bengal Barbecue, Tiki Juice Bar, The Tropical Hideaway
  • Bayou Country: Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree
  • Fantasyland: Edelweiss Snacks, Red Rose Taverne, Troubadour Tavern
  • Frontierland: The Golden Horseshoe, Stage Door Cafe
  • Main Street, U.S.A.: Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor, Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, Refreshment Corner
  • Mickey’s Toontown: Cafe Daisy
  • New Orleans Square: Harbour Galley, Mint Julep Bar, Royal Street Veranda, Tiana’s Palace
  • Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, Milk Stand, Ronto Roasters
  • Tomorrowland: Alien Pizza Planet Express (whole pizzas and family meals only), Galactic Grill

A few of our family favorites on this list are Red Rose Taverne, Docking Bay 7, The Golden Horseshoe, and of course Harbour Galley for those cookies. You can read more about each of them in my Disneyland dining guide.

Disney California Adventure Mobile Order Locations

Dining at Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill at California Adventure | Magic in the Planning

California Adventure actually has even more mobile order locations than Disneyland Park, including several lounges and drink stands. Here they are by land:

  • Avengers Campus: Pym Test Kitchen, Pym Tasting Lab
  • Buena Vista Street: Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream
  • Cars Land: Flo’s V8 Cafe, Cozy Cone Motel
  • Grizzly Peak: Smokejumpers Grill
  • Hollywood Land: Award Wieners, Hollywood Lounge, Schmoozies!, Studio Catering Co.
  • Paradise Gardens Park: Bayside Brews, Corn Dog Castle, Paradise Garden Grill
  • Performance Corridor: Mendocino Terrace, Sonoma Terrace
  • Pixar Pier: Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats
  • San Fransokyo Square: Aunt Cass Cafe, Cappuccino Cart, Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill, Lucky Fortune Cookery, Port of San Fransokyo Cerveceria, Rita’s Turbine Blenders

If you’re trying to decide where to eat, Flo’s V8 Cafe, Cocina Cucamonga, and Aunt Cass Cafe are the ones we come back to again and again. All three are on mobile order, which makes them even easier to fit into a busy day. My California Adventure dining guide has the full rundown on every restaurant in the park.

Disneyland Resort Hotel Mobile Order Locations

A few of the Disneyland Resort hotel quick-service spots also take mobile orders through the Disneyland app:

  • Disneyland Hotel: Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar and Grill, The Coffee House
  • Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa: GCH Craftsman Grill, Hearthstone Lounge

Downtown Disney

Most Downtown Disney restaurants are run by outside companies, so they don’t use mobile ordering in the Disneyland app. A few, like Jamba and Salt and Straw, offer their own online ordering through their own apps or websites instead.

Is Disneyland Mobile Ordering Worth It?

Flo's V8 Cafe in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park | Magic in the Planning

For our family, it’s a definite yes. It’s free, it’s easy, and it gives you back time that you’d otherwise spend standing in an ordering line. If you take away one tip from this post, let it be this one: the next time you’re stuck in a long queue, open the app and place your lunch order. Once you see how smoothly that goes, I have a feeling you’ll be mobile ordering every meal you can, just like we do.

For the most current list of participating restaurants, always check the official Disneyland mobile ordering page or the Disneyland app, since locations can change without notice.
