Halloween in Disneyland 2026: Dates, Oogie Boogie Bash, and Everything You Need to Know
Halloween in Disneyland is one of those things that genuinely has to be experienced to be believed. The whole resort transforms in the most magical way, and there’s something about the combination of fall décor, Disney Villains roaming the parks, and the smell of seasonal treats that just hits differently at the Disneyland Resort. This time of year is definitely one of my favorites!
And the good news for 2026: it’s all coming back. Disney has officially confirmed that Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is scheduled to return from August 21 through October 31, 2026, across both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. And the Oogie Boogie Bash dates are now officially announced, along with some exciting new additions for this year! Let’s break down everything you need to know.

When Does Halloween Start at Disneyland in 2026?
Disneyland doesn’t wait for October either… the Halloween season kicks off on August 21, 2026, and runs all the way through October 31. That’s over two months of spooky seasonal fun across both parks!
The beauty of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is that so much of it is included with regular park admission. From the moment you walk through the gates, you’ll notice the seasonal décor, the themed attractions, and the Halloween atmosphere woven throughout every corner of the resort. The separately ticketed Oogie Boogie Bash is the big headliner event, but honestly, there’s so much to enjoy even without a party ticket.
One more thing worth noting before you dive in: Disney has confirmed that “Paint the Night” parade and “Wondrous Journeys” will run in Disneyland Park for a limited time from August 10–20, 2026, right before Halloween Time begins. And “World of Color – ONE” returns to Disney California Adventure starting August 10 and continues through the Halloween season. So if you’re arriving in mid-August, you’ll catch some great entertainment before the spooky season officially kicks off!
Halloween Time in Disneyland Park

Disneyland Park goes all-in for the Halloween season, and it’s genuinely one of the most atmospheric versions of the park you’ll ever experience. Here’s what’s confirmed for 2026:
Main Street Pumpkin Festival
The beloved Main Street Pumpkin Festival returns, filling Main Street, U.S.A. with hundreds of hand-carved pumpkins, including the iconic giant Mickey Mouse jack-o-lantern. You’ll also spot pumpkins shaped like Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto above the entry turnstiles as you walk in. And here’s a fun new addition for 2026: Disney has confirmed a new pumpkin paying homage to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, featuring depictions of Chewbacca and the Millennium Falcon in the ring surrounding the Partners Statue. It’s the kind of detail that makes you stop and smile before you’ve even made it to the park!
Haunted Mansion Holiday
One of the most beloved seasonal overlays in all of Disney parks, the Haunted Mansion transforms into Haunted Mansion Holiday, a full Nightmare Before Christmas takeover inspired by Tim Burton’s beloved film. Jack Skellington takes over the haunted halls with ghoul-tide surprises around every corner. This year, the ballroom will feature an all-new gingerbread house design, along with familiar faces like Sally, Zero, and Oogie Boogie. If you’ve never experienced this overlay, it’s an absolute must. And if you have… you already know you’re riding it again.
New Character Attire for the Season
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and their pals will arrive in Town Square with brand-new Halloween attire designed just for 2026, featuring harlequin motifs, frilled collars and cuffs, and swirling confection details in hues of orange, yellow, and black. These aren’t the same outfits from previous years, so definitely worth seeking out a character meet!
Halloween Screams
On select evenings, Disneyland Park comes alive with Halloween Screams, a spectacular projection and special effects show featuring fireworks above Sleeping Beauty Castle. Maleficent, Ursula, and other favorite fiends cackle across colorful projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street, U.S.A., “it’s a small world,” and the Rivers of America. It’s stunning, and it’s included with park admission on select nights.
Halloween Tree in Frontierland
Don’t miss the storied Halloween Tree in Frontierland. It’s a beautiful photo opportunity and a nod to the classic Ray Bradbury story that Disney fans love. It’s easy to walk past if you’re not looking for it, so add it to your must-stop list!
Halloween Time in Disney California Adventure Park

Disney California Adventure Park gets just as much Halloween love as Disneyland Park, with its own set of seasonal experiences included with regular park admission (in addition to the separately ticketed Oogie Boogie Bash, which we’ll cover below).
Radiator “Screams” in Cars Land
Every Halloween season, Cars Land transforms into Radiator “Screams” for Haul-O-Ween, and it’s one of the most charming seasonal makeovers at any Disney park. Lightning McQueen, Mater, and the rest of the Cars gang cruise around in their Halloween “car-stumes,” and the entire land gets a festive, family-friendly makeover complete with “car-achnids” and a “pump-kin” patch. Two of the land’s attractions also get the Halloween treatment: Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween and Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree. New for 2026: supernatural spirits will take over Cars Land each evening for a haunting “Sha-BOO” moment, where the neon lights flicker on and illuminate the roads. That sounds like an incredible after-dark moment!
Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark
Beginning in the late afternoon each day, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT! transforms into Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark. The storyline shifts as guests team up with Rocket to distract menacing monsters on the loose and save Groot. The nighttime-only overlay makes this a great reason to stay in the park after dark.
Mickey’s Trick and Treat
This interactive, family-friendly stage show runs multiple times throughout the day at Disney Theater in Hollywood Land, beginning August 18. Mickey and his friends share some not-so-scary Halloween stories in a show that’s perfect for younger guests. Note that this show is not exclusive to Oogie Boogie Bash party nights, so everyone can catch it!
Buena Vista Street and Oogie Boogie Décor
Oogie Boogie himself casts a shadowy eye from atop the Main Gate marquee, while Buena Vista Street gets its own Halloween makeover: a cloud of “bats” bursts from the tower of Carthay Circle Restaurant, a Headless Horseman statue appears, and spooky decorations line the street. Even just walking through the park entrance feels like an event.
Oogie Boogie Bash: A Disney Halloween Party

The Oogie Boogie Bash is the separately ticketed, after-hours Halloween party at Disney California Adventure Park, and it’s one of the most popular events the Disneyland Resort hosts all year. And the great news: the 2026 dates are officially announced, with some exciting new additions this year!
The party runs from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with ticket holders allowed to enter the park as early as 3:00 PM. Here are all the confirmed 2026 event dates:

*Guests ages 2 and under do not require a ticket.
What’s included with your Oogie Boogie Bash ticket:
- NEW: “Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party” This brand-new street party features iconic moments from the Haunted Mansion, ghostly dancing, and Madame Leota hosting her spirited séance right in the streets of California Adventure. This is the headliner new addition for 2026!
- Immersive Treat Trails with Halloween-inspired music, décor, and Disney Villain sightings along the way
- Villains Grove, where Redwood Creek Challenge Trail transforms into an immersive walk-through experience featuring the worlds of the Queen of Hearts, Dr. Facilier, and other Disney Villains
- Rare character sightings in Halloween costumes, including not-often-seen villains and characters you won’t find on regular park days
- The Headless Horseman making select appearances throughout the evening, riding through California Adventure (always a showstopper)
- Disney PhotoPass digital downloads are included in the price of your ticket (scan the QR code on your event wristband via the Disneyland app)
- Shorter wait times on popular attractions during the after-hours event
Note: The Frightfully Fun Parade has not been specifically mentioned in the official 2026 announcements. I’ll update this post as more details are confirmed closer to the season.
One important note: Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Premier Pass, and Single Pass are not available during the event.
New for 2026: Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party. Disney is offering an optional Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party for an enhanced viewing experience of the new Haunted Mansion street party. It will feature a special selection of treats themed to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Reservations will open on Disneyland.com later this summer, so keep an eye out!
The Oogie Boogie Bash consistently sells out, sometimes months in advance. Head to the official Disneyland website on June 18 (or June 16/17 if you’re a Magic Key Holder) and be ready to book!
Plaza de la Familia and Día de los Muertos
One of the things that makes Halloween at the Disneyland Resort feel so special and distinct from Walt Disney World is the celebration of Día de los Muertos woven throughout the season.
Plaza de la Familia returns to Paradise Gardens Park in Disney California Adventure, inspired by the world of Coco. This year it runs from August 21 through November 2, 2026 (a few days beyond Halloween itself!). This festive area features live entertainment, seasonal food, crafts, and interactive activities.
The entertainment lineup includes “The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate the Musical World of Coco!” (a traveling troupe of storytellers bringing songs like “Remember Me” and “The World Es Mi Familia” to life), plus live mariachi music at the Paradise Garden Bandstand. Guests can also enjoy a vibrant marigold arch, striking calaca (skeleton) statues, and a memory wall where you can add a note of remembrance for loved ones. That’s a really special, meaningful touch.
On the food front, Paradise Garden Grill will offer specialty menu items for the season, including the returning Chilaquiles Carnitas Torta. A Coco-inspired merchandise collection is also planned, featuring hoodies, t-shirts, and mugs with vivid colors and motifs from the film.
Over in Disneyland Park, near Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante, look for a vibrant Día de los Muertos installation featuring skeleton figurines known as catrinas and calacas, colorful marigolds, and traditional ofrenda-inspired décor. It’s a quieter, more contemplative corner of the park, so make a point of stopping.
Halloween at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort
This is a fun new section worth highlighting for 2026! The Hotels of the Disneyland Resort are getting some serious seasonal love:
- Pixar Place Hotel will feature all-new Halloween décor inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc.
- Disneyland Hotel gets Haunted Mansion-inspired touches throughout
- Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disneyland Hotel will both feature special confection displays crafted by the culinary team
For character dining fans, two seasonal options are confirmed at Disney’s Grand Californian:
- Mickey’s Autumn Adventures (breakfast and brunch) at Storytellers Cafe
- Clarabelle’s Enchanted Halloween Dinner (evenings) at Storytellers Cafe
At Disneyland Hotel, Goofy’s Kitchen Celebrates Halloween will offer seasonal fun throughout the day. And adults 21+ can enjoy a Halloween-themed cocktail menu at Broken Spell Lounge in Disneyland Hotel.
For a truly special splurge, Tenaya Stone Spa at Disney’s Grand Californian will offer Halloween-inspired hair, makeup, and nail services styled after favorite Disney characters, plus seasonal treatments like the Wicked to the Core foot treatment.
Reservations for character dining will open later this summer on Disneyland.com, so worth keeping an eye on!
Halloween in Downtown Disney
Downtown Disney gets in on the seasonal fun too, decorating for Halloween and offering seasonal treats and merchandise throughout the resort. No park ticket required!
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit returns as a family-friendly pumpkin scavenger hunt across Disneyland, California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. Purchase a special activity map from retail locations throughout the resort, search for pumpkins with unique Disney designs, then redeem your map for a keepsake prize. It’s a great activity for families who want something structured and fun across multiple areas of the resort.
New for 2026, the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage and lawn will host movie nights on select evenings with screenings of beloved fall flicks, plus live musical performances. That’s a lovely no-ticket-required way to soak up the season!
Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour
For guests who want a deeper, more immersive Halloween experience, Disney’s Happiest Haunts: The Villains’ Trail Guided Tour takes guests through both Disneyland Park and California Adventure with chilling stories, thrilling experiences, Lightning Lane entry, and preferred viewing for the Halloween-themed nighttime spectacular. It’s a premium experience, but if you love the history and storytelling side of Disney, it’s a really special way to experience the season. Check the official Disneyland site for pricing and availability closer to the season.
Budget-Friendly Tip: $104 Ticket Days
Disney has confirmed that ten days in September 2026 offer the lowest-priced 1-Day, 1-Park ticket for guests 10 and older at just $104. If you’re flexible on dates, these are fantastic value for experiencing the full Halloween Time atmosphere:
September 8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 29
Combine one of these dates with a weeknight Oogie Boogie Bash ticket and you’ve got a fantastic Halloween Disneyland trip at a relatively reasonable cost.
Also worth mentioning: the Kids’ Summer Ticket Offer is still available for visits through September 7, 2026, which allows children ages 3–9 to visit for $50 per child with a 1-Day Park Hopper purchase. And Disney is currently offering up to 15% off select hotel stays Sunday through Thursday through September 7, 2026. Check Disneyland.com for current offers.
Tips for Planning Halloween in Disneyland
Best Time to Visit for Crowds and Weather

Southern California weather is one of the great advantages of Halloween at Disneyland. Unlike Florida, you won’t be battling humidity and afternoon thunderstorms. August and September evenings in Anaheim are warm and comfortable, and by October the temperatures are genuinely lovely.
For crowds, the same general principles apply as Disney World: weeknights in September are typically the least busy, with shorter wait times and a more relaxed atmosphere. The $104 ticket days in September are a strong indicator of which dates Disney expects to be slower, so use that list as your guide! October weekends get significantly more crowded, particularly as Halloween approaches. If you have any flexibility, aim for a mid-week visit in September or early October.
Avoid Halloween night itself and any weekend in October if crowds are a concern. Those are the most packed nights of the entire season.
Oogie Boogie Bash vs. Regular Park Days
This is the big question for most visitors planning a Disneyland Halloween trip, and it’s worth thinking through carefully.
On a regular park day during Halloween Time, you get full access to all the seasonal décor, Haunted Mansion Holiday, Radiator Screams (including the new Sha-BOO neon moment), Mickey’s Trick and Treat, Halloween Screams on select evenings, and Plaza de la Familia. That’s genuinely a lot, and it’s all included with your regular park admission.
The Oogie Boogie Bash adds the brand-new Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake street party, Treat Trails, Villains Grove, the Headless Horseman appearances, rare character sightings, and PhotoPass downloads. If those experiences are important to you (and that new street party sounds like an absolute must-see), the party is worth it. If you’re on a tight budget or visiting with very young children who may not make it to 11:00 PM, a regular park day during Halloween Time still delivers a fantastic seasonal experience.
My recommendation: if you can swing it, do one of each. A regular park day gives you the full-day experience with all the seasonal touches, and an Oogie Boogie Bash night gives you the exclusive entertainment. You’ll get the most out of both.
Pro Tip: Just like at Magic Kingdom, party nights at Disney California Adventure do affect your regular park day. On Oogie Boogie Bash nights, the park begins transitioning to the after-hours event in the early evening, so general admission guests will be asked to leave. Plan your California Adventure days accordingly!
Costume Guidelines for Guests
Guests are encouraged to dress up for the Oogie Boogie Bash, and Disney does a wonderful job of leaning into the costume spirit at this event. A few things to keep in mind:
For guests 13 years old and younger: costumes and some masks may be worn. Masks must provide unobstructed peripheral vision with openings that allow the eyes to be fully seen.
For guests 14 years of age and older:
- You may dress as your favorite character, but you are not allowed to pose for pictures or sign autographs.
- Your costume must be family-friendly and must not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable, or violent.
- No fake weapons that resemble or could be mistaken for actual weapons are allowed.
- No sharp or pointed objects that could harm another guest, even accidentally.
- Costumes must not drag on the ground.
- Capes are allowed as long as they don’t fall below the waist.
- Layered costumes or props are strongly discouraged and may require additional security screening.
- Disney does allow transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, tutus, and headwear, as long as headwear doesn’t cover your face.
- No masks of any kind may be worn.
- Themed shirts and hats are completely acceptable!
Always check Disneyland’s official park rules before you pack, as these guidelines can be updated. On regular (non-party) park days, costumes for guests 14 and older are generally not permitted.
Lightning Lane Strategy During the Season
Halloween season brings higher crowds, especially on weekends, and a Lightning Lane strategy will make a real difference.
For regular park days, prioritize Lightning Lane for your highest-demand attractions early in the day. At Disneyland Park, that typically means Indiana Jones Adventure, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and Radiator Springs Racers at California Adventure. During Halloween Time, Haunted Mansion Holiday also draws longer lines than usual, since everyone wants to experience the overlay.
For Oogie Boogie Bash nights, keep in mind that Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Premier Pass, and Single Pass are not available during the event. Use the early 3:00 PM entry window to knock out rides before the party crowd arrives, and then shift your focus to the exclusive entertainment (especially the new Madame Leota street party) once things kick off at 6:00 PM.
Is Halloween in Disneyland Worth It?
Absolutely, and I say that as someone who genuinely loves both Disney resorts during the Halloween season.
The pros: So much of the Halloween experience at Disneyland is included with regular park admission. Haunted Mansion Holiday, Radiator Screams, Halloween Screams, Plaza de la Familia, and all the seasonal décor don’t cost a penny beyond your park ticket. That’s an incredible amount of seasonal content. If you add the Oogie Boogie Bash, you get one of the best after-hours party experiences either Disney resort offers. The brand-new Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake street party for 2026 looks like a genuine showstopper, and Villains Grove remains unlike anything at Walt Disney World.
The cons: The Oogie Boogie Bash sells out fast and isn’t cheap, and unlike Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, you can’t visit all four parks to spread out your itinerary. Disney California Adventure is a smaller park, which means the party atmosphere is more concentrated… which can feel either intimate or crowded depending on the night.
Who it’s best for: Families who love Disney Villains, guests who appreciate immersive walk-through experiences like Villains Grove, anyone who hasn’t experienced Haunted Mansion Holiday, and visitors looking for a slightly more laid-back Halloween party vibe compared to Walt Disney World. The new Haunted Mansion street party also makes this a must for anyone who loves classic Disney park lore.
If you can time your visit for a weeknight in September, you’ll get the best of both worlds: manageable crowds, comfortable weather, full access to all the seasonal experiences, and (if you grab a party ticket) an Oogie Boogie Bash night that won’t be packed to the brim.
Final Thoughts on Halloween in Disneyland 2026
Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort runs from August 21 through October 31, 2026, and it’s shaping up to be one of the best years yet. Between the stunning Haunted Mansion Holiday (with its brand-new gingerbread house!), the Radiator Screams makeover in Cars Land, Plaza de la Familia, the all-new Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake street party, and the Oogie Boogie Bash, there’s genuinely something for everyone.
Oogie Boogie Bash tickets go on sale to the general public on June 18, 2026. Mark your calendar and be ready, because these sell out fast. Magic Key Holders get early access on June 16 and 17.
Plan intentionally, book early, and you’ll be walking under Oogie Boogie’s watchful eye on Buena Vista Street before you know it.
